Overview

A brief overview of the Masterclass

Design your own dining table, to the size and style you want, and then craft it with your own hands. It's easier than you might think.

I will show you how.

Step 1:

Design Your Table

Using our Table Designing tool to choose the base design of your table.

Table top shape, table frame style, table size and the timber/finish of your table.

This is a start point for design, that allows us to price your table, and for you to proceed to booking.

Step 2:

Reserve Your Place

Reserve Your place in the Masterclass of your choosing.

We offer a small number of courses per month.

Each class has a maximum of 2 x participants

Each course will run over 4 days + 1 day to finalise any details.

I am keeping class sizes small, so you aren't spending all your time waiting for machines to be available, and ensuring your final product is of a high standard you can be proud of.

Once booked in, you can proceed to refining your design.

Step 3:

Refine your design

Upon booking you will receive a document to explain further design options and considerations for your table.

The beauty is in the details:
- Edge profiles
- Corner details
- Leg Shape
- Leg positioning/spacing
- Table Top Shape

All of these details will have an aesthetic and functional impact, making your table uniquely yours.

Step 4:

Workshop Days

On day 1, I will show you around the workshop and give you a safety induction.

We will then review your designs, and create the working 3D-CAD model of your design - from which we refer to and adjust throughout the build, as we build.

From here we will select the timber, lay out your table top and get to work.

Step 5:

Makers Mark & Lettering

Upon completion of your table - you will have the option to stamp the date, your name, and the names of your family members somewhere into your new dining table.

You can also brand your table with Josh's brand if you so choose.

Step 7:

Delivery & Install

Once the oil is dry, it is home time for your table.

Option 1: Come and collect your table from the workshop.

Option 2: Arrange for us to deliver it for to you. (Fees apply)

Step 7:

Enjoy

Enjoy sitting around the dining table you made with your own two hands.

Family dinners. Sunday roasts. Happy birthdays. Toasting life's events. Kids doing homework. Starting a business.

All things I have enjoyed and experienced, at my dining table.

And you will have your own experiences around yours.

Maintain & Repair

Life happens. Your table will get used. scuffed, scratched, dented and loved. It is what it is.

Having made your table - you will have the confidence and know-how to repair it.

We finish our tables in a hard wax oil.

Firstly because they leave a protective finish on the table surface, that also penetrates into the timber.

Secondly, because unlike other finishes, they can be maintained, rejuvenated, refinished easily.

You will learn how.

Bringing your design to life:

Using our Table Designing Tool, create the base design of your table: Shape, Frame Style, Size & Timber.

This is just a start point. Further design refinement continues...

Design Development & Detail

After booking your Masterclass, you will receive a document presenting you with various options to consider in the lead up to your first Workshop session.

Think edge profiles, corner details, leg angles, leg spacing and so on.

These details are what make your table special and unique to you.

Leg Size & Shape

Square Legs? Round Legs? Rectangular legs?

Leg and frame profiles

Do you like rounded undercuts to the frame joints? Or prefer a more angular aesthetic?

Corner Detail

Do you want rounded corners? Or square corners?

Table Top Edge Profiles

Would you prefer square edges? Or Half round edges? Full round? 45 degree angle with a pencil edge to the top edge? Your choice. Do you want an edge profile on all edges or just the long edges?
